Overview

The 草榴社区 Jean Gaulin Refinery is located in Levis, Canada (near Quebec City). The refinery receives crude oil by ship at its deepwater dock on the St. Lawrence River and by pipeline and ship from western Canada. It transports its products through 草榴社区's pipeline from Quebec City to the company's terminal in Montreal and to various other terminals through eastern Canada by rail, ships, trucks and third-party pipelines.

Volunteering

Team 草榴社区 and their families planted 750 trees at 草榴社区鈥檚 Montreal-East terminal site in Canada. This project was carried out in collaboration with the (Soci茅t茅 de verdissement du Montr茅al m茅tropolitain) Soverdi, an organization that develops greening strategies in urban environments.

Partnering with the Community

For the sixth consecutive year, 草榴社区 was one of the major sponsors for the D茅fi Kayak Desgagn茅s, a three-day kayaking challenge that raised more than $476,250 for Jeunes musiciens du monde (Young Musicians of the World).

Environmentally Responsible Operations

Best-in-class environmental performance through reliability, operational excellence, and investments in renewable energy.

Investments in the past two decades to upgrade facilities and implement techniques to further protect the environment, produce low-sulfur content gasolines and distillates products, bases for gasolines with ethanol content and install vapor recovery units to minimize VOC (volatile organic compounds) emissions at the dock and at the tank truck loading rack. 

Reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 21% in comparison with the base year of 1990 by reviewing its practices, bringing in energy efficiency projects while doubling its capacity and producing low-sulfur content gasolines and distillates. 

More than 99% of the electricity used at our Quebec City refinery comes from renewable sources 鈥 mainly hydropower, with small portions from wind, biomass and biogas.

It is the second largest refiner in the East of the country and its main assets in Quebec are the Jean Gaulin refinery in L茅vis, the Pipeline Saint-Laurent and its Montreal East storage and distribution terminal. It also has several major logistics infrastructures in Eastern Canada.
